Default Yahoo Launches Indian Social Network 16-24

We will try to get some more analysis on this -- perhaps in an article if there is demand -- as some details become available... For now I thought this was of good news value, and definitely of interest as to new Social Networks springing up...

<snip>
Yahoo India announced that it has launched yet another social network for the 16-24 age bracket in an attempt to capture the growing market in India. And although scant details are available, it sounds interesting.

Dubbed SpotM, the new social network will bring college-aged and those close to going to college together in one space. There’s no word on how Yahoo will be able to ensure everyone using the service is really as old as they claim, but Yahoo believes it can manage that problem.

I think this is actually a pretty big deal... I know Yahoo has a bit of a history now of mucking up this sort of thing, and certainly they are not very successful overall with their social networks like 360... but they are kings of chat... and they have a very good name in India... I think this could maybe do well... i will be following it in any case...
